Feb 2026:
Our story with Alt Ed Lincs started in September 2025 when our 15 year old daughter walked through the door. Our daughter had not been to her mainstream school for nearly three years. These three years were the worst times of hers and our life. The trauma and battles she faced were off the scale and over time the daughter we once new had more or less disappeared. Wow..... Here we are in February 2026 and our daughter is back with us. This is purely down to Alt-Ed Lincs and the amazing work Kat and Harriett do with the young people in their care. She no longer makes excuses not to go to school and enjoys being there and has made friends which is a huge thing and as she says "they're all on my wavelength" She now has a smile on her face and is communicating with us as a family and others around her which is amazing to see. Her confidence and trust around education is slowly coming back, again this is down to Alt-Ed. I our wish was why did we not find this place sooner.

"Since starting at Alt-Ed I have watched my daughter’s confidence grow week after week. She enjoys the work, and likes getting certificates as evidence of learning. The support from Kat and Harriet (and Phil the dog) really has been a game changer for us, as she now looks forward to learning about new and different topics, in a relaxed and stress free environment. It has even given her the confidence to consider going to college in the future, which is something she wouldn’t have even considered a year ago. I really can’t say enough good things about the Alt-Ed team!"
"My 15 year old child has joined Alt-Ed Lincs in September 2024, following a lot of trauma at his secondary school. When he joined Alt-Ed Lincs , he had virtually zero confidence and he struggled to trust anybody. He was always on edge and scared in general. Within a month of being with Alt-Ed, I could see a massive change. He was much happier and calmer. 8 months down the line, his confidence has grown, he loves going to school and he describes school as being with his second family. Thanks to Kat and Harriet.”
"'I'm lucky to have Alt-Ed' a quote from our son who is in his second term at Alt-Ed Lincs. The team have provided him with a nuturing, safe environment and for the first time in two years he's prepared to attend an educational establishment."
"As Mum to a young man with ADHD and other difficulties, I was pleased to discover Alt-Ed Lincs, Alternative provision in Lincoln, this Summer. My 11 year old was in a period of uncertainty, about to be leaving year 6 with no school place for year 7. The Local Secondary Schools couldn't meet needs and any special provisions were full.
Having no school place was a scary time and fear was showing up in my son’s behaviour.
When exploring other options the Alt-Ed team were communicative and positive in their outlook. It helped the whole family to look positively to the future when considering education, after being met with so many knock-backs and so much negativity from other providers.
As a “test” I did enrol him onto Alt-Ed Lincs “Natural World Week” of summer activities. The week of Summer activities he accessed was perfect, learner lead and tailored to his needs. He had a great week, he made friends and developed great relationships with the team. Kat and Harriet saw his spark, saw his potential.
Kat and Harriet were able to include his interests and provide opportunities for success. He liked every day, he wanted to go each day. When asked what he liked best he said, “making a friend and D.J.-ing with Kat was amazing, when can I go back”?
Accessing Alt-Ed Lincs this Summer was a completely positive experience. My Son had opportunity to try activities he wouldn’t have done otherwise, gaining confidence and succeeding.
When rejection and uncertainty had been faced from education, to be able to access a safe and stimulating educational place was magic."
